Since 2007 the HEINEKEN Africa Foundation has supported 128 different projects focussing on health and water. Over the years we gained an expertise in projects that focus on Mother & Child and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
Especially Sub-Saharan African countries are lacking behind when it comes to maternal and child mortality and the access to clean and safe drinking water. Both areas are essential in starting a healthy life.
In 2019, the HEINEKEN Africa Foundation approved 7 new projects totalling an investment of almost €720,000. They include the renovation of mother and child health departments at health centres in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Lubumbashi, DRC, and equipment for a neonatal intensive care unit in Benin City, Nigeria. Three more projects brought drinking water to communities in Burundi and Sierra Leone.
Below you can view a few examples of the projects we supported over the years.
