Introduction

Underpinning Heineken's long-standing commitment to Africa, Heineken has launched the Heineken Africa Foundation: a Foundation that supports and enhances the improvement of health for the people who live in Sub-Sahara African communities where Heineken is active, by financially supporting relevant health projects and health-related education.

Heineken has a long-standing track record of sustainability activities. Heineken’s approach to sustainability is straightforward and embedded in the Group’s long-held Company values: passion for quality, the responsible enjoyment of its brands and respect for the environment, for people and for our obligations to create a better world. This leads Heineken to focus on seven areas: energy, water, safety, agriculture, supply chain responsibility, responsible beer consumption and our impact on developing markets. This ensures that Heineken addresses material risks, its impacts on people and the planet and it enables the Group to influence our future. Within these focus areas, Heineken has a strong focus on the implementation of sustainability related programmes such as the alcohol policy, health and safety and business code of conduct. Cooperation with global and/or local partners (NGOs / Overseas development ministries / international organisations) has led to several positive developments in social and environmental areas. In Sub-Sahara Africa, Heineken has focussed on the implementation of a health care policy. This has resulted in a high-level quality health care infrastructure whereby employees and family members benefit from receiving a total healthcare package, including treatment of HIV /Aids, malaria and tuberculosis.

The Heineken Africa Foundation (HAF) aims to achieve improved community healthcare via funding and cooperating in health-related projects and education.
